Wonder Woman #4 Review

No one could accuse Wonder Woman of being the most fast-paced book in the DC Rebirth lineup. Nor is the "Year One" storyline attempting to dramatically revamp a familiar origin story. Yet even with these caveats, each new issue cements this series as one of DC's best current titles.

In the second chapter of Year One, Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott explore the Amazons' collective reaction to seeing their first man in thousands of years and the growing bond between Steve and Diana. Again, there's not a great deal added to this story that readers haven't seen in other recent projects like the Legend of Wonder Woman or Wonder Woman: Earth One. The main wrinkle comes with Rucka's focus on guns and the horror and fascination these alien weapons attract among the Amazons. It's a clever twist that culminates in a very powerful moment for Diana as she continues her journey towards becoming Wonder Woman.
