The Night Of: "Samson and Delilah" Review

As slowly and methodically as this series has been progressing, there was a concern that The Night Of wouldn't have enough time to focus on trial of Nasir Khan. Fortunately, we arrived at that point this week in "Samson and Delilah." The trial is now underway, even as the question of Naz's guilt becomes murkier than ever. The show is having no trouble at all holding the viewer's attention as it moves closer to the finish line.

First things first, it's worth addressing the odd transition from last week's episode to this one. "The Season of the Witch" ended with Stone chasing the elusive Duane Reade into an abandoned building and... losing him? Getting attacked? It wasn't really clear what director Steven Zaillian was going for with that final shot. But with the way "Samson and Delilah" opened with Stone nonchalantly cleaning the litter box, it seems he walked away unscathed. It was a slightly disappointing way to kick things off this week, but it could be argued that's more a reflection on "Season of the Witch" than "Samson and Delilah."
