Arrow’s set the stage for Prometheus as the main villain of Season 5 back in the season premiere, but there’s been very little progress on that front since. But now, with Tobias Church out of the picture, nothing is standing in the way of Prometheus and his plans for Oliver Queen. And while it’s clear the show has barely scratched the surface with this new villain, Prometheus is quickly coming together as a legitimate opponent to the new Team Arrow.
Coming into this episode, we knew very little about Prometheus beyond the fact that he’s not strictly based on the comic book character and that he has some sort of connection to Oliver Queen’s past. That connection became a little more clear in “So It Begins.” Now we know that Prometheus has a flair for the theatrical (as does pretty much anyone who dresses like Robin Hood before embarking on a murder spree) and that he knows about Oliver’s list from Season 1. It stands to reason that the person underneath Prometheus’ hood was harmed during Ollie’s Season 1 crusade, either directly or through the loss of a loved one.
