On the big screen, war has been treated in a large number of fashions. It has been depicted as heroic, lamentable, glorious, and sad, to name but a few. Never though has war been depicted in the crystal clear fashion that Ang Lee gives us in Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. It is utterly fascinating and wholly new, not for its depiction of war, but for the technical methods of that depiction.
For one week exclusively in New York and Los Angeles, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk can be seen in high frame rate (120 frames per second as opposed to the 24 usually seen in theaters) 4K 3D, and watching it this way is a wholly unique experience. This is a movie which looks like no other. Of course, looking like no other, doesn't necessarily make Billy Lynn good, nor the experiment—and it feels very much like an experiment—worthwhile.
