Dragon Ball Super Episode 66 Review

Warning: The following contains spoilers about the episode.

Since before Zamasu fused, we’ve seen the Potara Earrings dangling in front of us. It was only a matter of time then that our heroes would also use them. Sadly strange new limitations go a long way toward diminishing the impact of this powerful fusion. These odd choices don’t ruin what is otherwise a great episode, and ends with one of the best moments in Dragon Ball Super thus far.

Even after the events of the previous episode, Zamasu’s might has barely diminished. In an interesting twist, though, he’s played a hand in his own undoing. His fusion not only made him stronger, but broke his immortality. This is handled quite well visually and stands out throughout the entire episode. Half of his body is mutating and with each blast he takes, the mutations get worse. At points you can see his very flesh dripping from his arm and face. The inner turmoil that has been eating away at his mind now has a physical representation and goes a long way towards turning him visually into the monster we know him to be.
