Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.
Well, the moment we all knew was coming finally arrived. The Supergirl writers have broken off the Alex/Maggie romance, thus robbing the show of one of its best and most uplifting relationships. That was inevitably going to leave a black mark on “Damage,” regardless of whatever else unfolded this week. The fact that the rest of the episode was so flawed just made matters worse.
The best that can be said for “Damage” is that the cast tended to make the most of a poor script. That’s especially true where the Alex/Maggie scenes are concerned. I hate that the writers chose to end that relationship, and the fact that they chose such a cliched manner of doing so just rubs salt in the wound. This season has never really justified the rift between Alex and Maggie, particularly where Maggie’s refusal to entertain the notion of having children is concerned.
