After a bit of a stumble last episode, The Gifted rebounded with its strongest episode to date. Just about every character, relationship and big plot development congealed into one rich, dramatic, entertaining experience.
If you’ve been reading all of my reviews, then you’ll know I’m not a big fan of the Blink/John faux romance, which is why I was surprised that the material actually worked quite well in this episode. Blink was fed up with being lied to and used for her (extremely useful) power, so she confronted John about it and decided to take off. The path to get to this point was contrived, but now I can see what the writers were going for. There’s a genuine chemistry between the two characters, but now any feelings that crop up will always be called into question thanks to Dreamer’s meddling. Hopefully Blink’s departure means we’ll finally learn about her past as hinted about in Episode 2 where she kept opening a portal to a specific country road.
