Skyrim Special Edition PC Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Bethesda has taken a strange stance toward its PC version of Skyrim from the very beginning, even though it's that version that's kept it chugging along healthily on Steam largely on the strength of mods for five years. Three months went by after launch before PC players got the pack with high-resolution textures, and by then most of us had already played through much of Skyrim or beaten it. The new Special Edition suffers from the same comparative disregard. There's some good stuff here and it's great that Bethesda has made it free for anybody who owns the original and all its expansions, but it comes off as barely better than what we've already had on PC for years - and in some ways it's not as good.
