Dragon Ball Super Episode 82 Review

A new challenger appears before Goku, and with Zen-Oh’s permission another exhibition match is allowed to take place. Toppo wishes to deal out some justice to the villain he perceives Goku to be and the fight that ensues pushes both warriors to the very edge. However, there is more going on than a simple fight, and it’s the growing theme of Goku as a villain that propels Episode 82.

Toppo, the Warrior of Justice from Universe 11 is the latest adversary for Goku. What I find most appealing about him, aside from his Ginyu Force inspired antics, is that he clearly is the hero of his universe. The way he acts and speaks to both Goku and those around him paints a clear picture: he thinks Goku is a bad guy. Of course, Toppo is also a great fighter and watching him pummel Goku and then survive a Kamehameha with little issue was quite thrilling. Most of all, though, the scene where he rejects Goku’s handshake stood out to me. As simple as it was, rejecting Goku’s offer of peace and friendship hammered home just the kind of person Toppo is, and how upset and disgusted he is with Goku’s actions.
