"Commencement" brought back Riggs' trauma regarding his wife's death at the worst possible time for him as he was just beginning to embark on a new relationship with Karen Palmer. So here, in the Season 1 finale, we got a very angry and very regretful Riggs. That's anger over the pain caused to his wife mixed with a hefty dose of guilt from having "moved on." Basically, everything Riggs thought was true back in "Jingle Bell Glock" came back with a spirited vengeance this week and our crazy cop went all the way nuts.
