The Flash: "Abra Kadabra" Review

It’s always been frustrating how little interest The Flash shows in the actual Flash Rogues compared to Barry Allen’s speedster enemies. So the fact that “Abra Kadabra” introduced the titular villain to the Arrow-verse was a welcome step in the right direction. Sadly, the spectre of Savitar hung over what could have been a really entertaining episode.

The Flash crew certainly found the right man for the job. Dave Dastmalchian has practically built a career around playing minor but memorable characters in critically adored superhero movies (including The Dark Knight and Ant-Man). He was a great fit to play a theatrical showman from the 64th Century. He brought a nice energy and whimsical absurdity to the aprt. Yes his performance was pretty hammy, but if any Flash villain should be played over-the-top, it’s Abra Kadabra. You want the sense that a man born 4,000 years in the future is operating on a different wavelength from everyone else.
