This week’s Star Wars Rebels mostly served as an amusing little side adventure for AP-5, Chopper and Wedge – in which we got to see Dark Chopper unleashed!
Timing-wise, it felt oddly placed to have this episode just five episodes after another droid-centric adventure in “Warhead,” with Wedge sort of tagging in for Zeb as the non-droid character in the story. And this episode definitely pushed the limits on how wacky you can get in a Star Wars story with its two musical (!) beats.
The first, with AP-5 and Chopper directly quoting (as much as Chopper “quotes”) "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun, at first had me groaning – but I must admit I laughed out loud when we came back from the title card and AP-5 was still saying, “Yes I can!”, proving that sometimes continuing a joke for what seems too long is actually a way to make it funnier.
