"I Am Suicide" has showcased this young series at its best and worst. Batman #13 wraps up the story arc somewhere in the middle, with a conclusion that wraps up this conflict on a fitting, if slightly predictable note.
Not until issue #12 did the true significance of the arc's title become apparent. This chapter builds on that as it chronicles the long-awaited showdown between Batman and Bane. Hearkening back to "Bane broke the Bat, but the Bat broke him right back" idea Gail Simone established in Secret Six, Tom King suggests that each character serves as the other's monster. After so many years of seeing Bane portrayed as a mindless bite, it's very refreshing to see this villain given the respect he deserves again.
