It's difficult not to grow bored with comic books predicated on the notion of heroes fighting heroes when there are so darned many of them lately. With Civil War II and now Inhumans vs. X-Men, 2016 has been one, long superhero slug-fest at Marvel. BUt the key difference with IvX is that this is a battle that at least makes sense and holds real emotional weight.
IvX is the inevitable end result of the X-Men's post-Secret Wars status quo. Mutants are once again an endangered species thanks to the constant threat posed by the Terrigen Mist cloud circling the globe. The Inhuman race is growing stronger every day even as mutants suffer and die. And with Beast discovering that the mutant race has mere weeks remaining before Earth becomes permanently uninhabitable,the time has come for drastic measures.
