Being first to market has obvious advantages, but being second to market can also give you time to prepare your offensive strategy a bit. Such is the case with the GTX 1060 ($200 - $270 on Amazon), which is designed to go head-to-head with the AMD’s Radeon RX 480, which launched first.
You see, for this new generation of GPUs, Nvidia followed tradition and led with its high-end GTX 1080 and 1070 cards first, while AMD decided to launch with a midrange GPU instead. This allowed both companies to launch their new GPUs into unclaimed territory. Later Nvidia answered AMD's mid-range entry with one of its own. And that’s the GTX 1060. It is the first affordable Pascal GPU to spring forth from Nvidia and uses an all-new slab of silicon named GP106.
