Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.
Episode 71 wastes no time informing us what we’re in for. The death of Goku is at the forefront of the show and we spend our time seeing the build-up to this. Although some good moments exist, death in the Dragon Ball franchise has lost almost all of it’s meaning which ruins the emotional impact of the episode.
While not all parts of Episode 71 are great, certainly the stand out is Hit. The assassin from Universe 6 has an air about his character that few villains have had in Dragon Ball. In fact, what makes him so appealing is that he isn’t even a villain in the strictest sense, but is a neutral party working for hire. His calm, cold demeanor add a sense of mystery to him while his lethal efficiency showcases just how wildly powerful he is. It’s this mysterious nature that makes his character so compelling and we hope going forward that it’s something that isn’t tampered with too much.
