Few would argue that Doctor Doom, as one of the greatest villains in comics, doesn't deserve his own solo series. That's a given. The question is whether Doom needs a series where he abandons his own identity to take up the mantle of another character. That's the premise driving Infamous Iron Man, and while the first issue shows plenty of potential, it's also clear that the series is in no hurry to answer that key question.
Infamous Iron Man #1 debuts a year after Victor von Doom first appeared in the pages of Invincible Iron Man with a healed face and an oddly sunny disposition. The series since has revealed little about Doom's new status quo or whether his change of heart is actually genuine. But now, in the aftermath of Civil War II and the disappearance of Tony Stark, Doom has taken it upon himself to continue the legacy of Iron Man.
