Legends of Tomorrow: Season 2 Premiere Review

It's a shame that DC's Legends of Tomorrow had a slightly truncated first season, because it seemed as though the show really found itself towards the end. But at least it landed a second season (despite lukewarm ratings), allowing showrunner Phil Klemmer and his crew to dig deeper into this band of time-travelling misfit heroes. Between the lighter tone and the fact that much of the show's dead weight has been jettisoned, Season 2 is already shaping up to be an improvement.

Right off the bat, the biggest thing working in the show's favor this season is the fact that the Vandal Savage storyline is finished. Savage himself is gone, and both Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) are on extended sabbatical. That leaves room for a leaner, meaner team of Legends to join Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in his ongoing quest to defend the timeline now that the Time Masters have been eliminated.
