Note: This is a review for the second half of The Ranch: Season 1, which is available to stream on Netflix as of Friday, October 7. I'll discuss basic details about the plot and characters but avoid any major spoilers.
It's a shame that The Ranch isn't a better show, because Netflix viewers are getting a lot of it in a relatively short span of time. Netflix already greenlit The Ranch for a second season in 2017, but first they have to air the back half of Season 1. So it is that April's initial batch of 10 episodes is being followed up by another 10 now. But as these 20 episodes form one, complete season, viewers shouldn't expect much change in terms of tone or quality. The Ranch still plays out as a bland, generic sitcom that only occasionally realizes it's capable of delivering more.
